Former Condor Club bartender receives one-year term for role in manager's murder
Asia Morton, a 26-year-old ex-bartender at the Condor Club, was sentenced to one year in jail and a year of supervision for her involvement in the killing of manager Marc Calcagni.
A Sonoma County Superior Court judge sentenced former Condor Club bartender Asia Morton to a one-year incarceration term followed by a year of mandatory supervision for her participation in the murder of longtime manager Marc Calcagni. Calcagni, 60, was found shot in a bike lane near his Santa Rosa residence on October 3. Police contend that Morton's boyfriend and fellow employee, Richard Lund, ambushed the victim after waiting for him to finish a late-night shift, then escaped the scene.
Investigators say Morton facilitated the crime by securing two cars, coordinating a rental-car return, and discarding items left by Lund, actions described as part of a calculated plan. She originally pleaded not guilty, later changed to a no-contest plea, while Lund has pleaded not guilty and faces trial later this month. The sentencing was marked by the judge’s criticism of Morton's remorse statement, and colleagues recalled Calcagni as a prominent figure in San Francisco’s adult-entertainment industry.
Why it matters
The case highlights how violent retaliation can arise from disputes in the nightlife industry and raises questions about sentencing severity.
