Former construction manager charged with misappropriating RM14,000 penalty funds
A former project manager was arraigned in Kota Baru for criminal breach of trust after allegedly depositing RM14,000 of contractor penalties into his own account.
In a Sessions Court hearing in Kota Baru, former construction manager Mohamad Hashin Mukhatap, 53, faced a criminal breach of trust charge for allegedly pocketing RM14,000 that a contractor paid as a penalty for a Tabung Haji-owned development. The penalty was collected from Kelpile Sdn Bhd for a proposed 22-storey mixed-use building on Lot 273, Section 12. The alleged misappropriation occurred at Sofea Residensi between 15 Nov 2017 and 8 Aug 2018.
Prosecutor Mariah Omar sought RM15,000 bail, while defense lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin requested RM5,000, citing the accused’s family responsibilities. The judge granted RM8,000 bail with one surety and ordered the accused to report monthly to the MACC office in Shah Alam, surrender his passport, and avoid influencing witnesses. A further court mention was scheduled for 19 Oct.
