Former contractor sentenced after shooting disabled veteran outside Tennessee courthouse
Dalton Levi Eatherly, known online as “Chud the Builder,” was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he shot Joshua Fox, a Black disabled veteran, outside a Montgomery County courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Dalton Levi Eatherly, who promoted himself online as “Chud the Builder,” traveled to the Montgomery County courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee, on May 13 and approached a Black couple waiting for a child-custody hearing. Following an exchange of words, a physical struggle broke out, during which Eatherly discharged a firearm seven times, striking Joshua Fox, a 31-year-old Black disabled veteran, five times at close range.
Fox was rescued by emergency services and taken to Vanderbilt Hospital, where he survived. Eatherly was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, firearm use during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Judge H. Reid Poland III set his bond at $1.25 million, later reduced to $1 million, and ordered him to wear a high-risk inmate jumpsuit while awaiting further proceedings.
