Former corrections officer charged with murdering wife in front of seven children
A former correctional officer has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife while their seven kids watched, according to Missouri authorities.
Missouri law enforcement arrested former corrections officer Jonathan G. Houston, 44, after a 911 call from one of his seven children revealed that their father had murdered their mother at a Baymount Inn & Suites in Kingdom City. The child reported that the father had strangled the woman in front of them ten months earlier, forced another child to pour hot water down her legs, and compelled a third to cover her mouth.
The youngest three were locked in a bathroom while loud music masked the killing. Houston allegedly placed the body in a trash bag and dumped it on the hotel property. He confessed to pre-planning the murder and is now charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping, held without bond, while the children have been placed in protective custody. The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating Houston for a prior sexual assault and other alleged assaults.
