Former Costa Rican Film Commissioner Joins Iberofic Board to Champion Spanish-Language Media
Marysela Zamora, former Costa Rican film commissioner, will stay on Iberofic's board to lead a regional push for women’s leadership and Spanish-language audiovisual content.
Marysela Zamora, who guided a three-fold increase in film investment in Costa Rica and attracted major studios such as Warner Bros. Discovery and one outlet Studios, will continue serving on the board of the Ibero-American Network of Film Commissions (Iberofic). In that role she will steer a regional agenda aimed at expanding women’s leadership and elevating Spanish-language audiovisual output globally.
Iberofic founder Carolina Cordero highlighted Zamora’s contribution to regional cooperation and her strategic vision. The move follows a leadership change at the Costa Rica Media Market, a Procomer unit, under President Laura Fernandez. Zamora’s tenure also saw the facilitation of Abby Fuller’s debut feature “Hope/Esperanza,” marking producer Mark Johnson’s first shoot in Costa Rica.
She has earned over 30 awards, including a United Nations SDG honor and a Forbes Central America listing as a powerful regional woman. Zamora affirmed her belief that the next major chapter in audiovisual media will be written in Spanish.
Why it matters
