Former DOGE staff launch AI-driven America.gov portal for federal services

A group of ex-DOGE staff are developing America.gov, an AI-driven portal intended to streamline federal services like passport renewals and, if approved, free tax filing. Housed within the General Services Administration, the effort will likely rely on Login.gov for user authentication, a system that the agency is already promoting across public-facing sites. Key contributors include Edward Coristine, who goes by the online handle “Big Balls,” former DOGE employee and Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, who now leads the White House National Design Studio, and Sam Corcos, recently moved from the Treasury Department to the GSA.

Unnamed Trump administration officials hope the platform will provide a campaign asset for Republican candidates in the November midterms. Critics warn that a chatbot-centric interface could provoke backlash, especially given past accessibility problems with other National Design Studio projects such as TrumpRx and the Trump Gold Card visa site.
