Former Emhoff aide Jessica Killin gains women-group backing in Colorado congressional race

Jessica Killin, the Democratic nominee for Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District, has been endorsed by a slate of progressive women’s groups, including EMILY’s List, Moms Fed Up and Elect Democratic Women. Killin previously worked as chief of staff to former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, who recently disclosed an extramarital affair and faced accusations of assault from an ex-girlfriend. While Emhoff’s conduct has drawn criticism, the women’s organizations have chosen to back Killin, who emphasizes her experience as a veteran and her commitment to families.

She is running against Republican incumbent Jeff Crank in a district that, though long held by Republicans, has seen narrowing margins in recent elections. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has thrown its weight behind her bid, viewing the seat as winnable this cycle.
