Former England striker Raheem Sterling charged after Lamborghini crash on M3
Raheem Sterling will face court on 15 September for dangerous driving and nitrous-oxide possession after his Lamborghini hit the M3 barrier in May.
On the morning of 28 May, Raheem Sterling drove his Lamborghini into the median barrier of the M3 motorway near the Minley Interchange in Hampshire. The incident, involving only his vehicle, resulted in his arrest by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, after which he was released on bail pending further investigation. Authorities have charged him with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, and failing to provide a specimen, with a court date set for 15 September at Basingstoke magistrates court.
Police considered but did not include a charge for driving while unfit through drugs, and a source close to Sterling said no drug evidence was found. Sterling, formerly of Chelsea and most recently of Feyenoord, has been club-less since leaving the Dutch side last season. No injuries were reported in the crash.
