Former Erdi mayoral candidate Kata joins Fidesz parliamentary group, assumes Orbán Balázs seat
Kardosné Gyurkó Kata has entered the Fidesz faction, taking over the parliamentary mandate previously held by Orbán Balázs.
Kardosné Gyurkó Kata, who previously ran for mayor in Érd and led the National Association of Large Families, has been appointed to the Fidesz parliamentary faction, filling the seat vacated by Orbán Balázs. Bóka János praised her five-child family background and extensive governmental experience, noting her continued focus on families and communities. Orbán Balázs will serve as a Member of the European Parliament, while Szekeres Pál assumes his former national mandate after Lázár János's resignation.
The party also announced the arrival of other members, including Hortay Olivér, known from Megafon, and Palóc André, who replace Szijjártó Péter and Buday Gyula respectively. These changes are part of a broader renewal effort within the faction following recent electoral setbacks.
Why it matters
The appointment reflects a reshuffle within Hungary's ruling party, affecting its parliamentary and EU representation.
