Former Finchley chemistry teacher denies decades-old indecent assault charges

During a trial at Harrow Crown Court, former Christ’s College chemistry teacher Sally-Anne Bowen, now 65, was charged with seven indecent assault offences involving two boys who attended the all-boys school in Finchley about four decades ago. One former pupil testified that he had sex with Bowen on multiple occasions, believing she was his girlfriend, while the second recounted a kiss in a café and brief contact with her breasts.

Bowen labeled the accusations as fabricated fantasies and expressed confusion over the delayed reporting. The prosecution argued that Bowen’s attire, described as tight tops and short skirts, was inappropriate for a teacher, a claim she refuted by showing her skirts were longer than she was asked to demonstrate. A former student also alleged Bowen discussed sexual positions in class, a charge she firmly denied. Throughout cross-examination, Bowen maintained she was simply a friendly teacher seeking acceptance from her students.
