Former Great British Bake Off contestant pleads not guilty to creating child indecent images
John Mincher appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court, entered a not-guilty plea to a charge of making two indecent images of a child and was released on conditional bail.
John Mincher, a 39-year-old former participant in the 2024 series of The Great British Bake Off, appeared in Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Friday. He pleaded not guilty to a single count of making two indecent images of a child, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of ten years. Deputy District Judge Kate Hearney warned that the alleged conduct involved "incredibly serious offences" and noted that the images fall under Category A, the most severe classification of child sexual abuse material.
Mincher, who works for the NHS, was arrested in August and released on conditional bail pending a Crown Court trial scheduled for next month. The case follows his brief television stint, during which he was praised by Paul Hollywood before being the third contestant eliminated. The court hearing focused on the legal accusations rather than his previous TV appearances.
