Former IAS officer Divya Mittal launches independent political movement in Uttar Pradesh

Divya Mittal, who previously served in the Indian Administrative Service, declared her intention to enter electoral politics without party affiliation, choosing Uttar Pradesh as the launch point. She argued that her bureaucratic experience revealed a gap between policy approvals and actual delivery of services to citizens. Examples she gave include a village school project that never began despite her approval, and a land-beneficiary who never received possession despite having legal documents.

Mittal plans to champion improvements in rural infrastructure, road safety, examination paper security and the impact of artificial intelligence on jobs. She emphasized a “politics of intent” and urged teachers, farmers, students, doctors, labourers and lawyers to join a collective effort. Rejecting rumors of joining a party, she said false political gossip was meant to deter newcomers, but she will persist in raising public concerns.
