Former Krasnodar deputy governor sentenced to 14 years for stealing army supplies
A Russian court sentenced ex-deputy governor of Krasnodar to 14 years for abusing his office and orchestrating the theft of equipment meant for troops fighting in Ukraine.
A court in Krasnodar handed former deputy governor Vlasov a 14-year prison term after determining he abused his authority to facilitate the theft of supplies allocated for Russian forces in Ukraine. Acting on his orders, adviser Alexander Starodubtsev stole goods worth about 2.31 million rubles and attempted to sell them via the Avito online marketplace. The Kuban Cossack Host, which received a 100 million-ruble subsidy in 2022, failed to deliver a large portion of purchased uniforms and equipment, prompting falsified delivery records.
Both men were fined 1 million rubles, banned from holding managerial positions in state or local government for several years, and will be placed in general-regime penal colonies. The verdict awaits legal activation, and investigators recovered the stolen items from Starodubtsev’s residence.
