Former Liberal MP Moira Deeming joins Family First for Victorian state election
Ex-Liberal parliamentarian Moira Deeming announced she will run under the Family First banner in the upcoming Victorian election after being expelled from the Liberal Party.
Moira Deeming, who sits as a cross-bench member of Victoria's upper house, revealed this morning that she will contest the November poll as a Family First candidate. She was removed as the Liberal ticket for the Western Metro Region in July following a dispute with Matthew Guy, whom she accused of putting her in a headlock. Police reviewed CCTV footage and found no criminal offense. Deeming declined to apologise, left the Liberal party room and said she has received approaches from multiple parties.
Why it matters
The move reshapes the candidate field for Victoria's election and highlights internal tensions within the Liberal Party.
