Former Melbourne primary teacher faces 16 charges for covertly filming hundreds of pupils

Timothy Blamires, a former year-3 teacher at Kingswood Primary School, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court charged with 16 offences for allegedly using a hidden camera to record over 350 children.

A former primary-school teacher, Timothy Blamires, was brought before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via video link after being arrested at Kingswood Primary School in Dingley Village. Investigators allege he concealed a camera inside an air-freshener in the boys’ toilets, later using it to film 282 children on three dates in October 2025 and an additional 75 in March 2026, amounting to 357 victims. The court documents show the charges have risen from five to sixteen, including offences for secretly observing private activity and intentionally producing child-abuse material.

After the device was discovered by a cleaner, Blamires allegedly moved it to the principal’s office before police arrived, then hid it again and returned to teaching. He has remained on remand since April, and his teaching registration has been suspended by the Victorian Institute of Teaching while a plea deal is under review.
