Former Merseyside officer sentenced to 11 years for prolonged hotel rape
Ex-police constable Ryan Theaker received an 11-year prison term after being convicted of an 82-minute rape in a Liverpool hotel, during which the victim repeatedly begged him to stop.
A former Merseyside Police constable, Ryan Theaker, was sentenced to 11 years in prison with a five-year extended licence after being convicted of an 82-minute rape in a Liverpool hotel room. The victim, who recorded the assault, repeatedly told Theaker to "get off me" over 300 times while he demanded naked photographs, used sex toys, and ultimately raped her, despite her clear refusals. Prosecutor Gareth Roberts highlighted the prolonged sexual degradation, and the victim delivered a tearful statement in Liverpool Crown Court, calling Theaker a "monster" and linking the abuse to her prior suicide attempt.
Judge Brian Cummings KC labeled Theaker a dangerous offender, noting his prior commendations in the police force but emphasizing the severe breach of trust. Theaker had been suspended after the offences were reported in August 2024 and resigned in August 2025 to avoid dismissal. Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Karen Jaundrill expressed disgust and clarified that such conduct does not represent the force.
Why it matters
The case underscores the abuse of police authority and the need for accountability within law-enforcement agencies.
