Former minister Borloo calls for expert task force to overhaul France's governance
Jean-Louis Borloo urged the creation of a specialised expert team to address what he describes as France’s organisational problems ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
During a launch event in Épinal, former UDI founder Jean-Louis Borloo called for the establishment of a dedicated group of technical experts to steer the Republic through its perceived organisational malaise. He argued that chronic shortcomings in sectors such as housing, education, hospitals and the justice system stem from a deeply centralised and bureaucratic structure. Borloo claimed that most local officials, including mayors and regional presidents, share his diagnosis, but that decisive action is stalled in Paris.
He promoted a French-style federalism in which the central state would retain responsibility for major issues like security, research and taxation, while everyday administration would be delegated to regional authorities. The proposal was presented as a prerequisite for a successful 2027 presidential campaign.
