Former NSW police officer begins murder trial over February 2024 shooting
Beau Lamarre-Condon has entered a not-guilty plea as his murder trial starts in Sydney's Supreme Court, concerning the February 2024 deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.
In Sydney's Supreme Court, former NSW police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder tied to the February 2024 fatal shooting of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies at Baird's residence in the eastern suburbs. He also denied an aggravated break-and-enter charge from an August 2023 incident and allegations of stealing a mobile phone and wallet belonging to Baird. Justice Natalie Adams, overseeing the case at the historic King Street court complex, warned that the trial could last up to twelve weeks.
Fifteen jurors were empanelled on Monday, and the opening address by Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield, SC, is slated to begin after 2 pm, followed by defence counsel John Stratton, SC. The judge indicated she would make introductory remarks before the Crown’s opening.
