Former police officer denied bail after alleged AirTag stalking of multiple women

Timothy Wilson, 65, appeared before Melbourne's Bail and Remand Court by video from a police cell and was denied bail on four stalking counts and related weapon offences. Police allege he placed Apple AirTag devices on the vehicles of four young women between June and September, using magnets and black tape, with one tag discovered during a car service. A search of his residence revealed magnets, AirTag packaging, a plastic bag of tape, a large kitchen knife, knuckle dusters, a homemade firearm, trail-style cameras and audio recorders, as well as notebooks documenting the victims’ daily routes and possible additional targets, including children’s schools.

Prosecutors suggest up to 25 more unidentified individuals may have been surveilled. Wilson’s counsel, Nikhil Sood, highlighted his clean record and past police service, while the magistrate, Samantha Seoud, ruled the risk of further offences unacceptable, ordering his remand until a hearing on October 9.
