Former President Bush unveils new 9/11 tribute paintings at Dallas center

George W. Bush, who turned to painting after leaving office, is debuting a suite of sixteen new works in a 9/11 remembrance exhibition at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas. The exhibit, titled “Remembering 9/11,” runs from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30 in Freedom Hall, a 67-foot-tall building on the campus. Admission is $26 for adults, with discounted pricing for seniors, teens and children under 12.

One of the displayed pieces portrays a helmet and flowers at New York City’s Engine Co. 55 firehouse, a crew that lost members while responding to the attacks. The paintings are rendered in acrylic and oil on 16 × 20-inch stretched canvas. Bush has previously shown his artwork at the museum, including a 2020 exhibit featuring portraits of 43 immigrants he met and quoted from his 2006 Oval Office remarks about America’s values.
