Former President Tsai urges deeper Taiwan-Silicon Valley collaboration
Ex-President Tsai Ing-wen met young tech entrepreneurs in San Francisco, calling for stronger two-way links between Taiwan and Silicon Valley.
Former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen spent Friday in San Francisco addressing a gathering of young technology entrepreneurs at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office. After concluding a visit to Stanford University, she listened to Silicon Valley’s startup and venture-capital community and called for more robust two-way ties. Tsai noted Taiwan’s expanding presence in sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, information and communications technology, and biomedicine, urging the island to consider contributions beyond products.
She encouraged Taiwanese youth working in the Valley to promote Taiwan’s story worldwide while bringing back insights on technology, talent, investment and innovative work practices. The trip marks her first journey to the United States since her term ended, and she is slated to fly back to Taiwan on Sunday.
