Former public servant charged with falsifying palm-oil purchase documents in Sabak Bernam
Airulnizam Island, a 44-year-old public servant, confessed after being charged with using a forged palm-oil purchase invoice for PPK Bernam Jaya between January 2020 and December 2022.
Airulnizam Island, aged 44 and employed as a public servant in Penang, admitted to the court that he had submitted a falsified invoice from TRC Sawit Sdn Bhd to PPK Bernam Jaya for palm-oil purchases spanning January 2020 to December 2022, amounting to about RM540,000. The alleged fraud took place at the PPK Bernam Jaya site in Sabak Bernam. Under Section 471 of the Penal Code, he faces up to two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both.
SPRM prosecutor Mohd Alimi Mustapha proposed a RM50,000 bail, with Island’s lawyer Hafiz Norkhan requesting a minimum of RM15,000. The judge accepted RM20,000 bail, required Island to surrender his passport, report regularly to the nearest SPRM office, and refrain from contacting witnesses. The case was adjourned to 3 November for further proceedings.
