Former Qatari premier urges Gulf states to rally behind Saudi after airport strike
Former Qatari prime minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani called on GCC members to set aside disputes and back Saudi Arabia decisively after the attack on King Khalid airport.
Following the recent attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid airport, former Qatari prime minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani appealed to Gulf Cooperation Council members to prioritize unity over lingering disagreements. He argued that the strike makes it more urgent than ever for practical and decisive assistance to Saudi Arabia, identifying Iran as the chief adversary. Al Thani warned that the GCC faces several hostile schemes that require foresight and collective action.
He also emphasized that the danger emanating from Yemen is being directed from outside the country, urging Qatar to align closely with Saudi efforts. The former leader, who headed Qatar’s government from 2007 to 2013 and oversaw foreign affairs for much of that period, called for a clear demonstration of solidarity among Gulf states.
Why it matters
