Former Queensland Origin star Joshua McGuire ordered to face child assault trial
Former Queensland State of Origin player Joshua McGuire has been ordered to stand trial on charges of serious assault against a child.
Joshua McGuire, who previously played for Queensland in the State of Origin series, faces a court case after being charged with common assault and strangulation of a child. The charges were filed in December of the previous year. While he remains out on bail, a recent hearing denied part of his request to modify bail conditions. The case will proceed to trial.
Why it matters
The trial shows that high-profile athletes are subject to the same legal accountability as any citizen.
