Former senior NGV staffer charged with stealing $8 million of mobile phones
A former senior employee of the National Gallery of Victoria has been charged with stealing $8 million worth of mobile phones over four years.
The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission alleges the ex-employee used a gallery account to purchase mobile phones, which he then sold for personal profit. Seven theft counts and one misconduct charge were filed under Operation Sonder, launched in September 2025. He is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 20.
