Former Shire of Coorow deputy exec granted bail on fresh drug and fraud charges

The former deputy chief executive of the Shire of Coorow, Sam Curulli, secured bail after courts added new drug-related offences to his case. Previously charged with fraud, corruption and theft for using council expense accounts to obtain and sell items for personal gain, Curulli faced allegations of possessing and supplying methylamphetamine that were filed late last week. In a Perth Magistrates Court hearing conducted by video, he was released on a $50,000 personal undertaking and a surety provided by his mother, but with conditions that prohibit any contact with the Shire of Coorow or its employees, except his father-in-law, councillor Gene Haddington.
He must also avoid communication with Mia Maxfield, the chief executive who was recently reinstated after a brief termination attempt. The bail order reflects police concerns and aims to prevent interference with the ongoing investigation.
