Former Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo Testifies in Jakarta Hajj Quota Corruption Trial

In Jakarta, the Corruption Court continued the trial of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas over suspected misconduct involving the 2023-2024 additional Hajj quota. Judge Ni Kadek Susantiani queried the KPK prosecutor on the witness lineup, to which the prosecutor confirmed four testimonies. Former Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo entered first, dressed in a dark blue shirt, and was questioned about his involvement.

Subsequent witnesses included Muhammad Tauhid Hamdi, president director of PT Alhamdi Global Wisata and former treasurer of AMPHURI, Slamet, head of the General Bureau of the Ministry of Hajj, and Bayu Putra, an honorary employee of the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah. The indictment also names three other former officials, accusing them of diverting the special Hajj quota and causing state losses amounting to Rp622.09 billion through irregular allocations and expedited fees.
