Former State Department Spokesperson Condemns Biden Team’s Post-Gaza Apology Tour

In an interview, former State Department Arabic spokesperson Hala Rharrit sharply criticized senior Biden administration figures for their recent expressions of remorse over U.S. military assistance to Israel during the Gaza war. Rharrit, who resigned after facing retaliation for her dissent, accused officials such as National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan of moral cowardice, noting they had the authority to stop the flow of American bombs, jets and other equipment that she says powered Israel’s attacks.

She highlighted that leading human-rights bodies have described the campaign as genocide and pointed to a poll indicating that Democratic voters in early primary states now favor ending weapons aid to Israel. Rharrit also referenced a March survey showing a decline in favorable views of Israel among the broader U.S. public. She concluded that the current “apology tour” is merely a public-relations stunt, while the United States’ policy landscape has fundamentally changed. The former diplomat affirmed that her resignation was consistent with her constitutional oath and international law.
