Former Super Bowl winner urges NFL players to scrutinize private investment offers
Former champion Ndamukong Suh cautioned NFL athletes about the risks of private investments after a scam involving several players surfaced.
Ndamukong Suh used a social-media clip to advise NFL players to be vigilant about private investment opportunities, stressing that a large majority of these ventures do not succeed. He recommended evaluating the investors' personal stakes and obtaining independent counsel before signing any agreements. This guidance follows revelations that a group of current and former players, including Jalen Carter, were duped by an e-commerce scheme that allegedly siphoned more than $1 million.
The scheme was orchestrated by Mohamed Coulibaly, who allegedly leveraged connections with former NFL executives to attract victims. Coulibaly was discovered dead in a swimming pool in Harrison Township, New Jersey, on July 31. The incident underscores the financial vulnerabilities faced by professional athletes.
