Stavros Floros, a 21-year-old beekeeper who appeared on Survivor Greece, filed a $100 million lawsuit against the program’s producers, AcunMedya, after a propeller from a tourist boat struck him while he was spearfishing on May 11. The impact caused the amputation of his leg, and he credits a tourniquet applied by a stranger on the offending vessel for saving his life. Floros remained in a Miami hospital for 61 days, undergoing multiple surgeries to address his injuries.
In response, AcunMedya said emergency aid was provided promptly and that competent port authorities are investigating the incident’s causes. The production has been suspended indefinitely while the investigation proceeds.
