Former TCU safety Jacob Fields arrested on aggravated assault charge after locker-room incident

Jacob Fields, who was cut from the TCU football roster on Aug. 18 following an alleged dispute with a teammate, was taken into custody on Sunday on an aggravated assault charge that carries a serious bodily injury designation. According to his agent Phillip Miller, Fields surrendered to authorities and is currently detained at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, with a bond expected to be posted later that day. The accusation involves Fields punching wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the locker room earlier this month, an incident Ezukanma described in a now-deleted Instagram video as a “sucker-punch” that left him unconscious.

TCU general manager Ryan Dorchester filed a police report after the episode, and head coach Sonny Dykes labeled the behavior as uncharacteristic, emphasizing the need for the team to move forward. Fields previously spent three seasons at Louisiana Tech, earning Conference USA co-defensive player of the year honors before transferring to TCU.
