Former telecom official Ashish Joshi held for nine hours by Delhi police

Ashish Joshi, who recently retired as an additional secretary after a career in the Department of Telecommunications, was summoned by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday. He arrived at the unit’s New Friends Colony office at approximately 10 am and spent the day answering questions from a Counter Intelligence team, which documented his remarks. Throughout the interrogation, Joshi said he was repeatedly denied permission to call his wife, despite legal requirements to inform families.

He was finally released around 7 pm and posted on X that he had been dropped off at his home. The incident came to public attention after Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit claimed Joshi had been taken away during a morning walk and his whereabouts were unknown for several hours.
