Former Tory campaign chief and candidate wife plead guilty to election-date betting fraud
Anthony Lee and his wife Laura Saunders admitted to cheating on gambling markets by using inside information about the 2024 election date.
The ex-Conservative Party campaign director and his spouse, who was a parliamentary candidate for Bristol North-West, have entered guilty pleas for insider-based betting on the election timetable. Their case follows an investigation that uncovered the misuse of privileged campaign details after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the vote. Similar admissions have been made by former MP Craig Williams and Amy Hind, the spouse of a senior Conservative digital official. All three defendants are awaiting sentencing at Southwark Crown Court.
