Former V/Line chief sentenced to nearly three years for secret commissions
Ex-V/Line CEO James Pinder received a two-year-eight-month prison term after pleading guilty to misconduct and hidden kickbacks, and will later be deported to England.
James Pinder, who was removed from his role as chief executive of V Line, was convicted of abusing his public office and accepting undisclosed commissions tied to multimillion-dollar cleaning contracts. The court sentenced him to two years and eight months in jail, with eligibility for parole after one year and nine months. Four additional individuals were also sentenced for their involvement in the scheme. Following his release, Pinder faces mandatory removal from Australia and deportation to England.
