Former Vikings captain warns of leftward shift after Michigan primary, backs Minnesota GOP hopeful

Jack Brewer, a former captain of the Minnesota Vikings, warned that Abdul El-Sayed’s narrow victory in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary serves as a stark warning about the nation’s direction, labeling the physician-turned-politician as radical and confused. He argued that the election of Donald Trump did not eliminate deep-seated cultural problems and that the rise of such candidates is unsettling. Brewer also praised Michele Tafoya, a former NFL sideline reporter, for winning the Minnesota Republican Senate primary with 52.07% of the vote, calling her a grounded voice capable of appealing beyond the GOP base.

He suggested Tafoya could potentially unite Democratic voters and independents to overcome the state’s historic Republican losses since 2006. Brewer’s remarks were given in his capacity as chair of Opportunity Now and vice-chair of the Center for 1776 at the America First Policy Institute, organizations aligned with the Trump administration. He concluded by urging Minnesota voters to use common sense and reject candidates he described as mentally unstable.
