Former West Bengal deputy speaker discovered dead in Trinamool office

Authorities reported that the body of Ashis Banerjee was discovered on Sunday morning at the party headquarters in Rampurhat, Birbhum district. The deceased had been hanging and was sent for a post-mortem examination. Police said the circumstances of the death remain unclear, though a note described as a suicide letter was reportedly recovered from the premises. Banerjee had served as deputy speaker while Mamata Banerjee led the state and had been elected from Rampurhat five times.
