Former West Ham midfielder accused of selling counterfeit Covid vaccination certificates
Former Premier League player Edson Alvarez is alleged to have sold fake Covid vaccine certificates with Jonathan Toache Bedolla and an unnamed doctor, according to filmmaker Juan Jose Lopez Ordonez.
Mexican filmmaker Juan Jose Lopez Ordonez publicly accused former West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez and his former father-in-law Jonathan Toache Bedolla of operating a counterfeit Covid-vaccination certificate business, charging roughly £370 per document. Ordonez claimed the forged papers included authentic-looking stamps, signatures and working QR codes, allowing celebrities such as Montserrat Oliver, Yolanda Andrade, Jay de la Cueva and Alfredo Adame to evade pandemic travel bans.
This is the second allegation from Ordonez, who previously alleged that Bedolla’s family forced him into a vehicle at gunpoint in Mexico City, a claim Alvarez also rejected. Under Mexican law, falsifying public-health documents is a federal offense, prompting the possibility of a formal probe. Alvarez, who has not featured regularly for West Ham this season, declined to comment, while the club prepares for a match against Southampton at the London Stadium.
