Former White House lawyer likens Trump’s renovations to Vegas and a brothel

Former Trump White House attorney Ty Cobb, who worked there between July 2017 and May 2018, told one outlet that the president is turning the historic residence into a hybrid of a casino and a brothel, noting the proliferation of gold and lavish décor. He highlighted the demolition of the East Wing to make way for a ballroom—a project the Supreme Court recently permitted to move forward—along with the paving of the Rose Garden into a Mar-a-Lago-style patio and the removal of the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden.

Cobb also mentioned the ongoing plan to level the South Lawn for a new helipad and the addition of gold accents throughout the Oval Office, including a gold-framed “Presidential Walk of Fame.” The former lawyer lamented the loss of the building’s historic character, calling the transformation tragic but inevitable. The White House did not respond to requests for comment on Cobb’s statements.
