Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott awaits sentencing after child abuse convictions
Ex-world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of sexually abusing two primary-school-age children and will be sentenced soon.
Graeme Dott, who won the World Snooker Championship in 2006, was convicted of two counts of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour toward a girl and a boy during separate periods spanning the 1990s and 2000s. Testimony from the victims, now adults, detailed repeated abuse in Glasgow. Despite his denial, the jury returned guilty verdicts, leading Lord Harrower to remand Dott in custody and place him on the sex-offenders register. The conviction prompted the removal of Dott’s name from the World Snooker Hall of Fame. A sentencing hearing is scheduled in the near future.
