Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott faces child abuse trial in Glasgow
Ex-world snooker champion Graeme Dott is on trial at Glasgow's High Court over alleged child sexual abuse.
Graeme Dott, who won the snooker world title in 2006, appeared before Judge Lord Harrower at the Glasgow High Court to answer charges of lewd behaviour toward two minors, a girl and a boy, spanning 1993-2010. Prosecutors allege the incidents took place at multiple locations in Glasgow’s east end, South Lanarkshire and inside a vehicle, including claims that Dott touched the girl, asked her to remove clothing and exposed himself, and that he made sexual remarks, watched the boy shower and molested him.
The female witness, now in her 40s, described being carried down stairs, having her backside caressed, and being urged to lower her trousers and kiss her belly in several episodes. Dott has denied all allegations. The case is ongoing under Lord Harrower’s direction.
Why it matters
The trial highlights serious allegations against a high-profile sports figure and raises concerns about child protection.
