Four additional suspects detained in Lanarkshire gang feud operation

Operation Portaledge, the police initiative targeting a long-running gang feud in central Scotland, led to four new arrests in Bellshill and Motherwell, raising the total to 81. Among those detained are a 21-year-old charged with a disturbance and arson in Kirkintilloch, another 21-year-old linked to the same arson, a 29-year-old accused of crashing a vehicle into a property in Eaglesham, and a 31-year-old charged with setting fire to a car on Crowhill Street in Glasgow.

The police recovered four stolen cars during the week’s raids and emphasized that significant inquiries continue. Chief Constable Jo Farrell had previously reported a “resolution of differences” in July, yet incidents have persisted. Detective Chief Inspector David Lamont said the operation reflects extensive detective work and aims to send a clear message that such criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
