Four arrested after viral video shows girl harassed on Samastipur bypass

A video lasting 56 seconds showed a girl being surrounded, restrained and verbally abused by a group of youths on Dam Bypass Road in Jagatsinghpur village, Samastipur. The girl, who had stopped to take photographs with a boy, was forced to stay as one attacker held her arm and another threatened to strike her. After the clip circulated on social media, police identified and arrested four men from their residences.

This episode comes days after a comparable assault in Jamui, where a Class X student was similarly harassed and recorded, leading to the detention of three minors and ongoing raids. Both cases have been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, with a special SIT led by SDPO Deepti Monali overseeing investigations.
