Four drones breach Moldovan airspace, northern sky temporarily closed

On Thursday morning, four drones violated the Republic of Moldova's airspace, according to the Ministry of Defense. The initial intrusion occurred at about 5:20 a.m. when border police near Vasilcău observed a drone arriving from Velicoe Coșnița in Ukraine, which then exited Moldovan airspace. About an hour later a second drone entered from the Chelimenți area of Cernăuți, crossing the border near Larga and leaving at 6:16 a.m. Additional drones were tracked at 6:35 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., the latter crashing in a cornfield near Cernița without casualties.

A final drone was seen around 7:00 a.m. before disappearing near Cunicea. Following the incidents, the northern airspace was closed temporarily and reopened at 7:46 a.m. Igor Grosu, speaker of the Parliament, said the growing number of illegal drone flights poses a direct risk to Moldova's security and a blatant breach of its sovereignty, urging citizens to stay calm and report any suspicious objects.
