Four ETA leaders charged with aiding Santa Pola barracks bombing that killed a child
A judge of the Audiencia Nacional has brought charges against four senior ETA figures for facilitating the attack on the Santa Pola Guardia Civil barracks that resulted in the deaths of a four-year-old girl and a 57-year-old man.
Judge Antonio Piña of Spain's Audiencia Nacional has processed four senior members of the ETA terrorist organization—Ainhoa Múgica, Juan Antonio Olarra Guridi, Félix Ignacio Esparza Luri and Soledad Iparraguirre—for allegedly supplying means and directives to the command that executed the bombing of the Guardia Civil barracks in Santa Pola, Alicante. The attack killed a four-year-old girl, Silvia Martínez, and a 57-year-old man, Cecilio Gallego, who was waiting at a bus stop close to the target.
In a ruling, the judge indicated there are indications the four facilitated the assault. The prosecution argues that their involvement was instrumental in enabling the perpetrators. The investigation continues as the legal process moves forward.
