Four family members, including two doctors, killed in Rajasthan hit-and-run crash
A speeding truck collided head-on with a car on the Kawai-Atru highway in Baran district, killing doctor Suresh Gajraj, his wife Shalini Maurya and their two children, while the driver fled.
On Tuesday morning, a truck traveling at high speed struck a car head-on on the Kawai-Atru highway in Rajasthan’s Baran district, killing all four occupants instantly. The family, originally from Surajgarh in Jhunjhunu district and residing in Jaipur, was en route to Chhabra when the collision occurred near the Kawai police station at about 11 am. The impact crushed the car, and nearby residents rushed to aid the trapped passengers before police cleared the wreckage.
The deceased were identified as Dr Suresh Gajraj, 38, principal medical officer at Mandal in Bhilwara district, his wife Dr Shalini Maurya, 35, and their children Swapnil, 12, and Nilisha, 7. Their bodies were taken to Atru Sub-District Hospital, where doctors confirmed the fatalities. The truck driver fled the site, and authorities have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him.
