Four Green Bay officers wounded after suspected drunk driver plows into crowd

Green Bay Police officers arrived at a food-truck disturbance shortly after 2:15 a.m. and were in the process of taking people into custody when a car surged toward the crowd and the officers, causing one officer to discharge his firearm. The driver, believed to be under the influence, fled the scene, prompting a brief chase that concluded with officers executing a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and faces charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Four officers sustained injuries that were treated and deemed not life-threatening, and no injuries were reported from the gunfire. Police Chief Chris Davis said investigators have not yet determined whether the driver was linked to the original food-truck disturbance. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office will assist in the investigation of the officer-involved shooting.
