Four Hospitalized After Crane Topples at Miami Construction Site

A crane fell at a Brickell construction site on Monday morning, injuring four people who were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

Around 8 a.m. on Monday, a piling rig crane collapsed at a construction site in Miami's Brickell neighborhood, creating a complex emergency scene. A woman driving beside the site saw the crane begin to fall, reversed her vehicle slightly, and escaped before the crane struck her car, causing a fire. The crane also crushed a storage container holding two construction workers, who were rescued by a crew member while another crew member tackled the blaze.

The trapped workers, the crane operator who jumped clear, and the driver all suffered minor injuries and were transported to hospitals. Fire Chief Robert Hevia confirmed that no fatalities occurred and that all other workers were accounted for. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
