Four Italian hospitals rank among the world’s top ten in their specialties

Four Italian medical centres have entered the global top-10 list for their respective fields, with fifteen Italian hospitals featured overall.

In the newest World’s Best Specialized Hospitals ranking, four Italian hospitals have broken into the global top ten for their specific disciplines. The IRCCS Policlinico Gemelli of Rome holds the third spot worldwide in obstetrics and gynecology, while the Bambino Gesù Hospital is fourth in paediatrics. Milan’s Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta ranks eighth in neurology, and the Rizzoli Institute in Bologna is ninth in orthopaedics.

Overall, fifteen Italian hospitals are listed, with Lombardy providing the largest share, followed by Lazio and Piemonte. Other regions such as Campania, Tuscany and Veneto each have three hospitals represented, highlighting a concentration of specialised care in northern and central Italy.
