Four killed when helicopter crashes near Montreal, investigators on scene
A helicopter went down in a field near Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, about 55 km southeast of Montreal, killing all four people on board.
On Saturday afternoon, a helicopter crashed in a field near the Rang des Écossais off Highway 10 in the municipality of Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, roughly 55 km southeast of Montreal. First responders found the aircraft on fire and declared the four occupants dead at the scene. Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Brigitte Dorsainville said investigators are still gathering information on the helicopter’s owner, its point of departure, and the identities of those killed.
The province’s major crimes unit has assumed control of the case, while a team from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is en route to assist with the investigation. The fire has since been extinguished, and authorities continue to examine the crash site.
