Four New Films Target Tech CEOs as Public Skepticism Grows
Hollywood will release four movies this season focusing on leading tech executives, including portrayals of Sam Altman, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Elizabeth Holmes.
This fall, four Hollywood productions will center on prominent technology leaders. Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial,” with Andrew Garfield portraying Sam Altman, dramatizes the OpenAI chief’s brief ouster and return. Aaron Sorkin’s “The Social Reckoning” turns its lens on Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg amid scrutiny of the platform’s effects on youth.
Alex Gibney’s documentary “Musk” explores Elon Musk’s family dynamics, corporate disputes at Tesla and SpaceX, and his political engagements. Finally, “You Can See Everything,” directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, follows Elizabeth Holmes in the weeks preceding her incarceration for defrauding investors at Theranos. The films emerge as surveys show roughly seven-in-ten Americans believe tech firms wield excessive power. “Artificial” was initially dropped by Amazon MGM Studios after its $50 billion investment in OpenAI, later acquired by Neon and set to premiere at the New York Film Festival.
Why it matters
The movies reflect a cultural pushback against growing tech influence and shape public perception of industry leaders.
